
George Paz assumed the position of president in 2003, providing leadership for the evolution of Express Scripts’ strategic direction and assuming day-to-day responsibility for delivering on the company’s promise to make the use of prescription drugs safer and more affordable. Then, in 2004, he took on the additional responsibilities of chief executive officer.
Mr. Paz joined Express Scripts in 1998 as senior vice president and chief financial officer. In that capacity, he was responsible for financial oversight and planning, as well as projecting financial results for Express Scripts and its subsidiaries
His Earlier Career
Prior to joining Express Scripts, he was a partner at Coopers and Lybrand from 1988 to 1993 and from 1996 to 1998. From 1993 to 1995, Mr. Paz served as executive vice president and chief financial officer for Life Partners Group, where he was responsible for financial reporting, product design and implementation, actuarial valuations, shareholder relations, tax reporting and IRS audit resolution, and state insurance and agency relationships.
Education and Professional Credentials
Mr. Paz holds a bachelor of science degree in Business Administration and Accounting from the University of Missouri. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
